Intersatelital, the latest release from Mexico City’s Vinnum Sabbathi, offers a heady voyage through cosmic soundscapes, blending post-metal, doom, and cinematic space rock into a dense, immersive experience.

This time, the band’s conceptual lens is sharply focused on a pivotal chapter in Mexico’s space and technological history: the 1985 launches of satellites Morelos I & II, and the landmark STS-61-B mission, which saw Dr. Rodolfo Neri become the first Mexican astronaut.

The satellites played a key role in advancing communications infrastructure, while Neri’s experiments and photographs from orbit heralded a new technological era.

Formed in 2012, Vinnum Sabbathi fuses crushing, slow riffs with science-themed samples to create a heavy, cinematic sound.

From 2013 to 2016, they toured Mexico and released two EPs and two splits, including Fuzzonaut (Stolen Body Records, UK). Their 2017 debut album, Gravity Works, led to their first European tour, with appearances at Bristol Psych Fest and Sonic Blast.

Subsequent splits with Cegvera and others, as well as performances with Red Fang, Rosetta, and Truckfighters, cemented their reputation.

Their acclaimed 2020 album Of Dimensions & Theories was followed by a collaboration with Comacozer (Australia). In 2022, they celebrated 10 years with a Mexican tour, then returned to Europe in 2023 to play Astral Fest, Sonic Whip, and Desertfest London.

Their new release, Intersatelital, stands as a sonic monument to the human-machine partnership. Towering riffs, layered textures, and atmospheric interludes evoke both the wonder of space exploration and the intricate dance between analog grit and futuristic ambition. It’s as much an homage to Mexico’s engineering pioneers as it is a deep-space jam.

Vinnum Sabbathi will support the release with their third European tour this summer:
