As the Doomsday Clock sprints toward midnight, musicians are still out here making records. And why wouldn’t they? If the apocalypse is nigh, you might as well go out drenched in distortion and reverb.

February saw Brooklyn’s Frankie Sunswept & The Sliver Moons unearth Nostalgia, a wildly ambitious, genre-defying album that might just crack open a portal to an alternate dimension.

Meanwhile, some enigmatic entity known as Pacific Walker crawled up from the underground and placed Lost in the Valley of the Sun at our feet like an offering from the fungal gods. The record feels like a sentient mycelial network whispering secrets through warped acid-folk melodies.

Nashville’s Sean Thompson’s Weird Ears beamed in Head in the Sand, a sophomore release soaked in his signature cosmic country tones. It’s chock-full of twang and shimmer that intertwines like radio waves drifting through a high desert sky.

Psychedelic Source Records also sent out a fresh signal from the distant corners of Hungary. At the same time, we also received a lovely experimental and euphoric spiritual jazz LP from Yea Big (via Island House).

And that’s just the tip of the (melting) iceberg.

The underground is alive and well, my friends.

Here’s The Third Eye’s favorite psychedelic music from February 2025:

I hope you had a great February – enjoy the tunes!
