Time is a Moebius strip, memory is a haunted mixtape, and nostalgia is the cosmic glue holding it all together.
On February 14th, Frankie Sunswept & The Sliver Moons invite you to step into a time-warping dream with their debut album, Nostalgia, a kaleidoscopic swirl of intricate vocal harmonies, polyrhythmic percussion, dreamy synth and organ waves, brass that howls at the moon, woodwinds that whisper secrets, and guitars that either purr like contented kittens or snarl like feral beasts.
The record is a slow-motion memory, a hypnotic push-pull between motorik grooves and melancholic meditations.
Like a lost transmission from a parallel dimension, Nostalgia fuses Ethio-jazz, Krautrock, ’60s psychedelia, garage rock, African rock, South American folk, prog, and proto-metal into a singular sonic relic—an ancient-futuristic artifact obsessed with collective memory, climate change, mythology, science fiction, and loving-kindness. It’s an album that loops infinitely, folding in on itself like time devouring its own tail.
The genesis? Frankie and Kimberly were trying to recall the bassline of Mahmoud Ahmed’s “Tezeta,” but they instead birthed an entirely new song: “Nostalgia,” a love letter to the act of remembering.
Over four years, they sculpted rhythms, layered melodies, and built worlds. The album opens with a trilogy—“Nostalgia,” “Now,” and “Futureless”—a triptych exploring the nature of time, each song a portal leading into the next.
Every track is a self-contained universe, yet they all drift together like tributaries feeding into the same cosmic river.
Recorded and performed by Frankie and Kimberly, the album also features Angela Carlucci on vocals, Celeste Cantor-Stephens wielding a trumpet like a beacon in the fog, Sam Day Harmet bending saxophones and clarinets into time-traveling echoes, Sean Cronin anchoring basslines like tectonic plates shifting beneath you, and Kyle Morgan adding bass and vocals that feel like messages from another life.
This sonic relic will be available on vinyl on February 14th via Sunswept Drive Recordings and Romanus Records because some memories deserve to crackle.
