Get ready to trek into the unexplored realms of sound and consciousness as Robot God has unveiled its fourth full-length album, Subconscious Awakening. This sequel to its mind-bending album Portal Within promises to take you on a sensory expedition deep into the uncharted territories of the mind.

Building upon Portal Within’s ethereal soundscapes and propulsive energy, Subconscious Awakening plunges even deeper, weaving an elaborate tapestry of sound that draws you into a world where thoughts and emotions spiral together in a breathtaking (loud) symphony of discovery.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Robot God has become a force to be reckoned with in the heavy psych/stoner rock scene. Formed in 2019, this powerhouse trio channels a potent blend of space rock, stoner doom, and heavy psychedelia, rivaling even the most seasoned acts from Europe and the U.S.

Imagine the wild, electrifying riffs of Hendrix, the crushing weight of Sabbath, and the cosmic explorations of Pink Floyd—all wrapped up in the fuzzed-out brilliance of Robot God.

With a live set that shakes the ground and soul, this trio constructs a towering wall of sound that overwhelms the senses. Robot God blends experimental space jams with the primal energy of stoner rock and doom.

On the live stage, Robot God has already cemented their place in the scene, sharing stages with heavyweights like Greenleaf (Sweden), Rollerball, Arrowhead, Witchskull, Deville (Sweden), and the Brant Bjork Trio.

The cosmic haze of “Blind Serpent” starts the record, blending the gritty tones of stoner rock with the sprawling exploration of heavy psychedelia, desert rock, and space rock. Like the rest of the LP, it’s a hallucinatory dive into the depths of the mind, where the band’s collective recollections are scorched under a relentless desert sun and reawakened by storms of sound.

The bass on “Mandatory Remedy” hums like the vast, arid plains of the band’s native Australia, each note reverberating like heat rising from the sand. The riffs crawl slowly over barren rock formations before crackling and sparking like distant lightning over the horizon. The track brings an electric tension that feels like it could snap at any moment, and the song’s progression mirrors a personal transformation, like a long-forgotten memory bubbling up from the subconscious.

On the title track, Robot God delves deeper into the psyche, incorporating doom-laden grooves dense enough to crush stars. The band layers fuzzy distortion with otherworldly synthesizers, crafting a soundscape that’s as much space rock as it is a reflection of Earth’s primal forces. The drums, cavernous and echoing, seem to stretch through time itself.

The closing track – “Sonic Crucifixion” – is where the record’s space rock tendencies fully take flight. The reverb-drenched guitars and spiraling synths guide you through vast nebulae, where stars collapse into black holes and reform as towering riffs that rattle the core of your being. It’s the soundtrack of floating, untethered, through the infinite while tethered to the relentless weight of doom-laden rhythm.

Subconscious Awakening is like a psychedelic vision quest through Robot God’s multiverse, where the boundless skies stretch infinitely overhead. Each track pulls heavily from desert rock, with its hypnotic, cyclical rhythms and powerful guitars that blast us across the dunes.

At its core, Robot God’s new LP is a raw, primal experience that strips away layers of conscious thought, leaving us exposed to something deeper. Merging the grit of stoner rock with the cosmic grandeur of space rock, Subconscious Awakening is an exploding star and standout heavy underground release.
