The Colorado-based space traveler Astral Construct is back with a new single, “Three Moons,” released on May 28th. The new track sees Drew Patricks’s solo project journey deeper into his favorite territory—space—and brings us back an instrumental stoner rock track that charts new territory for him.

Listen to “Three Moons” below:

Astral Construct, a fuzz-driven, psychedelic space ride, is a unique musical experience that draws inspiration from the vast possibilities of creating music that allows the listener to get lost and travel to wherever their minds take them. Drew’s music is a canvas that beautifully blends the heavy and the dark, with vibrant colors that illuminate the fringes of the void.

Regular readers of The Third Eye know full well that we are big fans of Astral Construct, as we interviewed Drew last year and reviewed his stellar 2023 LP Traveling a Higher Consciousness. Drew’s riffs are mean, but he is not. You won’t meet a kinder person in the heavy underground.

Our friendship with Drew doesn’t cloud our editorial judgment, though. As we’ve said before, in our humble opinion, Astral Construct creates some of the best instrumental space rock being made today. And it’s good to see the project take an exciting new direction with “Three Moons.”

The nearly seven-minute track is familiar for Drew because of its epic-sounding riffs, but he also veers into more atmospheric territory, channeling the post-rock tendencies of groups like Russian Circles to create something more spacious, like the cosmos itself. Astral Construct’s riffs have a familiar ring to them, and, at this point, I can tell right off the bat that it’s one of his songs.

Enjoy “Three Moons” and keep your eyes glued to Astral Construct’s social media pages, where he regularly posts videos of him playing his spaced-out riffs, including for the new track.
