Some moments define everything. A flash of clarity, where paths converge, and the world shifts. That’s precisely what happened when Lulu (Electric Moon) and Oli (ex-Urlaub in Polen) crossed paths at a concert in the legendary Vortex Surfer music club in Siegen. One thing was crystal clear by the end of that fateful evening: We are a band.

Fueled by this spark, they approached Falko, fresh from annihilating the stage with his instrumental post-metal band, Sarkh. The synergy was undeniable.

Within months, fragments of poetry and playful wordcraft penned by Oli began to merge with melodic lines and raw ideas. Each member brought their own magic, shaping and refining these seeds during electrifying rehearsals.

The result is White Clouds, their debut album, created in less than a year—a testament to their creative urgency. Recorded, mixed, and mastered in Falko’s subterranean lair, the Institut Für Angewandten Krach, the album pulses with the energy of something raw yet meticulously crafted.

During this whirlwind, the trio experienced a transformative moment: attending one of the final shows by the legendary noise post-math rock band, Shellac, in Amsterdam. Steve Albini’s spirit left an indelible mark, infusing the debut with his ethos. Their album became a tribute, a love letter to the unapologetic energy Shellac embodies.

But this band is no echo of their influences. They have their own wild, untamed soul. A delicate balance of pain and hope courses through their sound—rock’n’roll’s fierce will, blended with moments of deep introspection and soaring abandon.

The Barren Room’s music is dynamic and hypnotic, weaving between playful experimentation, driving rhythms, and hauntingly resonant melodies. The connection between Lulu, Oli, and Falko vibrates through every note, promising an unforgettable debut and live performances with a resounding fuck yeah factor.
