Emerging from the shadowy depths of the underground, Pallbearer Industry channels the sinister energies of doom-laden, experimental psychedelic rock. Their latest sonic odyssey, Live at Ottawa Psych Fest III 2023, captures their sound’s monstrous, haunting brilliance.

A surge of dark energy electrifies the trio, transforming their eerie, unsettling approach into a thunderous Goliath—massive basslines, chilling, swirling guitars, and primal, ritualistic drumming merge into a force of nature.

Live At Ottawa Psychfest III 2023 is a mind-bending, sci-fi-infused descent into madness. This is a musical war machine—grinding bass, guitar squalls, and relentless tribal drumming create a disorienting, anti-comfort zone unlike anything you’ve experienced.

It’s a sonic gauntlet that demands your full attention, where innovation and raw emotion collide. With no intention of fitting into any mold, Pallbearer Industry makes a bold statement for these chaotic times—this is thought-provoking, boundary-pushing music for those unafraid to confront the abyss.

The performance was recorded live at House of Targ on the final evening of Ottawa Psych Fest, where the power trio performed ferocious selections from across their catalog and two unreleased tracks. Released on September 16th via We, Here, And Now Recordings, the performance was captured by none other than Shane Hartman of the label.

The live performance consists of five monstrously loud tracks, starting with “Delayed Anarchy.” The disorienting electronic noises that begin the song quickly bring us into the band’s nightmarish psychedelic world before the guitars, drenched in layers of fuzz and reverb, swirl into a vortex of distortion, blurring the line between melody and chaos. The sound is massive and primal—each note is drawn out into a hypnotic drone laced with the biting energy of punk.

As the set progresses with “Autumn’s Fall,” industrial influences creep in, with metallic percussion clanging through the thick fog of noise and doom-laden guitar riffs. The sound has a mechanical ferocity—guitars screech and grind like rusted gears, industrial noise merging seamlessly with the psychedelic haze.

The goth influence emerges in the eerie, mournful “Slow Spiral,” where droning synthesizers hum like haunted church organs, and deep, brooding basslines slither through the mix. Ethereal vocals float above the dirge-like atmosphere, invoking an unsettling calm before the storm of metallic riffs inevitably returns. These quieter moments only heighten the impact of the album’s heavier sections as the audience is plunged back into a frenzy of noise.

“Afterlife” comes next with an almost transcendental quality. The experimentation reaches its peak, with dissonant guitars and swirling synths colliding in a cacophony that feels as if the band is tearing apart the fabric of reality itself.

The final track, “Massive Tempest,” shows punk’s anarchic spirit flared up again as furious bursts of energy punctuate the soundscape. The guitars break free from the slow crawl, launching into riffs that aggressively explode. The synergy between punk’s urgency and doom’s weight creates a unique tension, pulling the listener between frenetic chaos and crushing heaviness.

Live at Ottawa Psych Fest III 2023 is an immersive journey into the darkest corners of sound, where primal energy, haunting atmospheres, and relentless experimentation collide. The band fearlessly pushes the boundaries of doom, psychedelic rock, and punk and invites those daring enough to embrace the void in an age of chaos and uncertainty. Grab this one on vinyl – and play it LOUD.
