August has come and gone, and we here at The Third Eye are surveying the bounty of excellent psychedelic music left for us.
My wife and I spent a few weeks in the Philadelphia area last month, and it felt good to return home. Now, I’m back in my actual home in Middle Tennessee and back to, as they say, the grind. Part of that grind involves listening to and writing about new psych music, but I find it so fun that it’s not much of a grind at all.
In August, Trigona and IO Audio Recordings released an excellent split record that provided the new space rock riffs I craved. Legendary Philly-based psych rockers Bardo Pond released a new double LP compilation cataloging late-’90s rarities and outtakes. Experimental composer Chuck Johnson released his much-anticipated record, Sun Glories. And let’s not forget about great new music from Luiz Bruno, Australia’s Endless Valley, and New York City’s White Hills.
