New Single: ‘Ramzes Metamorfozis’ by A.J. Kaufmann

Polish songwriter A.J. Kaufmann is back with more psychedelic goodies after releasing a new single called “Ramzes Metamorfozis.” The trippy, astral folk song will be part of a new album Kaufmann plans to release on The Swamp Records in December 2024.

Listen to “Ramzes Metamorfozis” below:

Ten years after Kaufmann’s LP, Stoned Gypsy Wanderer, he started working on the new song and album. Stoned Gypsy Wanderer was released in 2014, showing A.J. as his best folk troubadour and harbinger of new sounds. Harbinger Magazine said about the album: “Nobody knows it, but A.J. Kaufmann is a national treasure of Poland.”

As Kaufmann himself has told me, there’s not much of a psychedelic scene in Poland, but he’s certainly making his unique brand of psych despite that. Kaufmann is a prolific songwriter whose work spans many genres, and he’s a terrific guitar player who can lay down some heavy guitar riff fire.

On “Ramzes Metamorfozis,” Kaufmann turns to a mystic folk style. As is usually the case, A.J.’s new single trades in the weird, featuring kaleidoscopic sound effects combined with his acoustic guitar. The repetition of the lines “Ramzes Metamorfozis” lends a hypnotic quality to the track, and the guitar and other effects in the song feel tinged with Eastern influences.

Check out Kaufmann’s new song, and stay tuned for the release of his new album in December. Knowing A.J., he’ll probably serve up more psychedelic treats in the meantime, so check him out on Bandcamp or social media to stay posted on what this mad Polish psychedelic sound scientist is up to. Enjoy!
