It’s been a fairly mild winter in Tennessee (aside from one wicked snowstorm). While the temps outside are mild, new psychedelic releases heated up in February. So much good stuff was released that I didn’t know where to start. Alas, I’ll try my best to give a sampling of February psych.
My favorite release this past month may have been The Golden Hour by Empty House, a trippy instrumental record from Fred Laird’s solo act released via Echodelick Records. Other top releases included a new EP from the heavy psych rockers Rope Trick and new cosmic country from NYC-based Seawind of Battery.
February also saw a new record from Italian stoner rockers Mr. BISON, a new live album from Brazillian psych-rockers Firefriend, and a marvelously groovy experimental psych album from SONS OF ZÖKU.
Here are the Bandcamp links below for The Third Eye’s favorites from February 2024:
- The Golden Hour by Empty House
- The Subtle & The Dense by Samsara Joyride
- Red Tide from Rope Trick
- ËNDLËSS by SONS OF ZÖKU
- Phase IV by Artifacts & Uranium with Mitsuru Tabata
- Symmetry by Seawind of Battery
- Echoes From The Universe by Mr. BISON
- Firefriend – RCKNRLL
- IV by TUTUPATU
- El Conejo by Psyrup
- GlitchCraft (self-titled)
- Zaman Ziyan by Ayyuka
I decided to forgo sharing a Spotify playlist this month to push people more to Bandcamp to check out and purchase the music. So, if you like some of these tunes, be sure to support these hardworking artists and bands.
I hope February was kind to you and that you enjoy some of these tunes!
Parting words: “February, a form pale-vestured, wildly fair. One of the North Wind’s daughters with icicles in her hair.” – Edgar Fawcett
