The Italian psychedelic rockers Thomas Greenwood & The Talismans are back with a new single, “Sunhouse,” off their upcoming sophomore album, Ates, due out on March 15th. The band’s sound blends modern neo-psychedelia and acid rock with a vintage flavor, and the melodic surf choruses and mystical guitar should be great for Third Eye readers.
Greenwood & The Talismans already released a few singles from the upcoming new album last year, including “When We Die,” “Mystic Sunday Morning,” and “All The Lines.” You can find all those singles on Spotify. “Sunhouse” is a brief, energetic psych-rock track that should appeal to a wide array of neo-psychedelic fans and fans of artists as diverse as Space Shepherds, Astral Construct, and The Space Huns.
Thomas Greenwood’s debut 2021 album, Rituals, was released via Echodelick Records and Ramble Records, featuring warm, relaxed vocal melodies and the band’s ethereal and witchy sound. Some of the highlights from Rituals include the cinematic scope of “Whisperer of My Dreams,” the lysergic haze of “Violet Hills,” and the acid folksy closing track, “Valley of The Sun,” that reminds me of All Them Witches, and songs like “Marriage of Coyote Woman.”
Greenwood’s upcoming album, Ates, is inspired by an imaginary hidden city under the mountains of Turkey called Ateş. The band says it’s a magical place buried by time where men found shelter during the hardest environmental catastrophes. This type of ancient, imaginary folklore is right up my alley, and the mention of ecological crisis also unfortunately makes sense now, given the impending doom of climate change and global environmental destruction.
