Closing out their 15th-anniversary triptych, The Circle is Red captures White Noise Sound (WNS) at full intensity, a live document drawn from their 2011 European run.

Sourced from performances in Paris, Bordeaux, and Gdańsk, the album distills what made WNS so singular onstage: repetition pushed to the brink and a constant sense that the music could tip in any direction at any moment. It opens with blown-out 808 pulses and circling frequencies before expanding into dense, immersive waves of sound. By the time it reaches “Sunrise” — a previously unreleased closing piece — the set dissolves into something more weightless, almost meditative, without ever losing its edge.

Over the years, WNS drew quiet but notable admiration from figures across the psychedelic and electronic spectrum, including Anton Newcombe and Bobby Hecksher, as well as Andrew Weatherall, Daniel Avery, and Phil Kieran. The Circle is Red follows the 2025 reissue of their cult debut and its companion remix LP, completing a three-part retrospective that reframes the band’s legacy.

Though their appearances were sporadic, WNS shared stages with a wide orbit of artists — from The Jesus and Mary Chain and Super Furry Animals to Spectrum, The Warlocks, and members of Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, and Orbital — a context that makes this release feel less like a footnote and more like a missing piece.

The Circle is Red captures a group operating at the edge of control, where structure gives way to instinct. It’s as much a record of process as it is of performance, a dense, immersive snapshot of British neo-psychedelia at its most unrestrained.
