If The Electric Splash had a time machine, they’d be parked somewhere in 1966, sun-drenched in reverb-soaked psychedelia. The Florida-based band’s debut EP, Early Days, is a full-bodied dive into a sonic kaleidoscope that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
From the opening notes of “Claws,” the band sets the tone: frenetic, groovy, and bursting with dynamic energy. It’s the kind of song that could soundtrack a frantic chase scene in a lost ‘60s surf flick. “Understand You” keeps the momentum rolling, all jangly guitars and feverish urgency, like a technicolor road trip with the windows down.
Things take a dreamier turn with “Silver Voices”, a woozy, melodic gem that floats on hazy harmonies and shimmering chords. “Raindrops” follows, leaning into wistful, rain-slicked introspection.
But just when you settle into the fog, “Never Sleep” kicks things up again with a groove-heavy explosion of sound, brimming with fuzzed-out guitars and hypnotic rhythms. The EP’s closer, “Early Days of Summer,” is pure sunshine—radiating warmth, nostalgia, and a deep-seated love for surf-soaked melodies.
The Electric Splash’s origins are just as compelling as their sound. A longtime sideman and devoted student of ‘60s rock, the band’s founder, Stefan, put his own music on hold—until one transformative live show reignited the spark.
The band formed in 2019, riding a wave of inspiration just in time to hit a pandemic-sized pause button. But rather than fade away, they doubled down, refining their sound in home sessions before bringing it to life at Rain Cat Recordings in Jensen Beach, Florida.
With vintage gear (think Fender Reverb, fuzz pedals, and analog delays), they crafted Early Days into a lush, sun-bleached time capsule.
