BUNNIES has been crafting a foggy, proggy, and uniquely psychedelic sound that’s nothing short of an eye-opening experience for nearly two decades. Their music is a paradox: sublimely composed and structurally sound on the one hand, yet wildly unpredictable on the other—capable of switching gears in an instant when listeners, and sometimes even the band members, least expect it.
Over the past 19 years, they’ve toured extensively, sharing stages with a wide range of top indie, weirdo, noise, prog, and psych bands. They’re gearing up to release their fourth LP, Horror Spectrum, set to drop in the coming months.
The group recently released the first single/video from the upcoming LP, a bizarrely awesome animated video for the song “Lucky Larry’s Lullaby to Lilith and Lucifer.” It was released (of course) on Friday, September 13th.
A bit more about the band … BUNNIES’ journey began in 2005 in Northampton, MA, when best friends Jeremy Dubs and Jack Science moved to town and discovered Matt Newman through a Craigslist ad.
This trio formed the nucleus of BUNNIES. In 2008, they released their debut album, Music For Dinosaurs By Dinosaurs, produced by Roger Miller of Mission Of Burma fame. This was followed by two more albums: Devoted To The Process Of Action in 2013, released on Charles Thompson’s The Bureau Records, and Transportation To Mind Transformation in 2018 on Russian label RAIG Records.
The current lineup features Jeremy Macomber-Dubs (vocals, guitar), Jack Science (vocals, synths, keys), Matthew Newman (drums, backing vocals), and Rebecca Macomber-Dubs (bass, trumpet, backing vocals).
Together, they form a tight-knit unit that creates adventurous and eclectic experimental rock. BUNNIES crafts an otherworldly sound by drawing influences from a broad spectrum of psychedelia, avant-prog, sci-fi space, Krautrock, weirdo cinematic music, and early punk jams.
Enjoy the animated video for the new single, and check out the rest of BUNNIES’ work while we anxiously await their upcoming LP.
