Jah Cuzzi continues their odyssey of free-form psych improvisation, pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration with their latest installment, Panic! At The Conservatory. The record was released earlier this year (April 23rd) via Stoned to Death Records.

On this album, Jah Cuzzi’s message emerges from a murky haze, but it’s far from incomprehensible, especially to those who’ve long since fled the confines of the mundane. What unfolds here is a mind-bending trip of the highest order: no riffs, no pretense, just raw, unfiltered soundscapes that deliver esoteric hallucinations straight to your brain.

Despite being a trio, Jah Cuzzi conjures a room-filling atmosphere thick enough to choke on. The drums lock into a steady, hypnotic groove while the electric organ spirals into a twisted dervish dance like it’s caught in a tranquilized trance.

The guitar? One moment, it’s a venomous snake being wrangled in the jungle, and the next, it’s an iron beam reverberating through an abandoned factory. The sound is metallic—not in genre, but in the pure, echoing resonance of raw, unpolished guitar tones.

Panic! At The Conservatory is an album designed for marathon listening sessions, where its true power takes hold. It reshapes your mind, weakening resistance until you find yourself a permanent resident in Jah Cuzzi’s otherworldly domain.

About the label: Established in 2012 in Pardubice, Czech Republic, Stoned to Death Records is the brainchild of a half-dozen krautrocking bears with a taste for dirty weed, cold beer, and boundary-pushing sounds.

Their focus is the gritty, underground, experimental, and avant-garde scene of the Czech Republic. However, they frequently take detours into the global underground, always on the hunt for the next sonic adventure.

Lovers of mind-melting psychedelic improv and hallucinatory music will dig this record by Jah Cuzzi, which features two twenty-minute-plus tracks of free-rock instrumental madness. If you dig it, check out the rest of Stoned to Death Records’ discography, which has some real hidden psychedelic gems.
