Mariano Melo, known as Marian Sarine, is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist from São Paulo known for his rhythmic mastery of drums and percussion.
Best known for his explosive drumming with DEAFKIDS, Mariano will soon unveil his latest record, Asas Terena. The record will be released on September 30th via Belgium-based label Futura Resistenza.
The album’s genesis began with organ themes recorded alongside Felipe Pato at the close of 2019, with layers of instruments added throughout 2020 and 2021. According to Sarine, Asas Terenas is a vibrant blend of sound that moves the feet while elevating the spirit, offering an experience that is both sonically pure and transcendental on the dancefloor.
Drawing inspiration from trailblazers like Charanjit Singh—who fused traditional North Indian ragas with electronic music—Sarine also channels the soulful energy of African organists and synth maestros like Hailu Mergia, Mammane Sani, and Hama. The result is a fascinating fusion of old and new, where spiritual depth meets electrifying rhythm.
Two singles from the record are available on Bandcamp now. “Asas Terrenas (Exordium)” is an intriguing instrumental where the organ takes center stage. The keys conjure swirling, hypnotic patterns that eventually give way to a dense, polyrhythmic tapestry of drums and electronic pulses. It’s groovy stuff.
“Amuse—Hanches (Gangorra)” sounds entirely different. It combines an almost techno dancefloor beat with electronic experimentation. The track’s ever-shifting rhythm section keeps the listener on their toes, inviting them to lose themselves in the groove only to be pulled back by a sudden change in direction.
The singles promise an experimental electronic record steeped in the resonant tones of vintage organs and a kaleidoscopic journey through psychedelia, jazz, and avant-garde corridors. Don’t miss it.
