The sounds of a hot, weirdo summer continue with a new Island House Recordings Release. Taurus in a Field by Telestialvision scratches the itch you may or may not have for avant-garde noise, offering two long, experimental ambient tracks that will leave your head spinning.
Telestialvision is the collaborative brainchild of Trever D. Crush from Dittocrush and Brinton Jones. This experimental project weaves scratchy tape loops with lush, slow-waved guitar sounds to create an intriguing tapestry of textured compositions and minimalist density.
Taurus In A Field presents two ambient compositions crafted with a deliberate, meditative touch. The gentle, unpredictable rhythm creates a mesmerizing sway while lush guitar swells and shimmering melodies carve a narrative that drifts effortlessly through time and space. The album is an ideal companion for any moment of reflection, whether navigating your city’s subway system or losing yourself in the quiet observation of nature.
“Blur the Fade” lazily stretches out for more than eight minutes, starting with barely perceptible sounds just out of reach. The track eventually settles into relaxing patterns of electronics and guitar swells that wash over the listener. Not everything about the track is gentle, though. As it plays out, some parts feel disorienting because of the weird electronic sounds, which keeps things interesting.
The title track, “Taurus in a Field,” has an epic runtime of over 17 minutes. For this song, hit play, tune in, and let go. The delicate synth lines combine with the guitars to create immersive listening that blends the familiar with the surreal, creating ample space for the mind to wander freely.
Telestialvision’s Taurus in a Field blends the best of ambient with avant-garde sensibilities and elements of noise, electronica, and psychedelia to create another solid entry in the Island House Recordings’ collection. Pair this with other excellent Island House releases recently, like A Lot by Ben Felton, I Saw A Bug by Pat Keen, and Moon Pulses by Nick Millevoi. They are all gentle but evocative ambient and instrumental records to quiet and also open your mind.
