As we push through the summer, July brought us a bounty of new psychedelic music, for which we should all be grateful. I celebrated my birthday earlier in the month, and my wife and I also got to see the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville for the first time. It was not a psychedelic experience, but a good one nonetheless.

In July, NYC-based Emergency Group released a great new LP, Mind Screen, which builds on their terrific work lately. They went on a brief Northeast tour in July alongside Psychic Lines and made a stop in Philly, making me wish I was still living in the City of Brotherly Love.

Some other great tunes in July included a freaky ambient and techno trance record from tarotplane, a reissue of iconic Italian jazz master Sandro Brugnolini’s Overground, and Part 2 of Harvestman’s dark ambient/psychedelic Triptych.
