As we push through the summer, July brought us a bounty of new psychedelic music, for which we should all be grateful. I celebrated my birthday earlier in the month, and my wife and I also got to see the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville for the first time. It was not a psychedelic experience, but a good one nonetheless.
In July, NYC-based Emergency Group released a great new LP, Mind Screen, which builds on their terrific work lately. They went on a brief Northeast tour in July alongside Psychic Lines and made a stop in Philly, making me wish I was still living in the City of Brotherly Love.
Some other great tunes in July included a freaky ambient and techno trance record from tarotplane, a reissue of iconic Italian jazz master Sandro Brugnolini’s Overground, and Part 2 of Harvestman’s dark ambient/psychedelic Triptych.
Here’s The Third Eye’s favorite psych music from July 2024:
- Triptych: Part Two by Harvestman
- Asteroid Lost by Man And Robot Society
- zikzak mix 12 by Tarotplane
- OVERGROUND by Sandro Brugnolini

- Cuneiform Tabs (self-titled)
- Jender by Flender
- Abstract Intuition by emanative
- Thank You (Slight Return) EP by The Jonny Halifax Invocation

Be sure to support all the artists, bands, and labels bringing this terrific music to our ears by buying their stuff on Bandcamp.
