Golden Sunbird is an Australian space rock band heavily inspired by early Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, Hawkwind, Kraftwerk, and other electronic pioneers. The Third Eye is proud to present the spacey Australians’ new single, “Orbs of Light,” which will drop on all streaming platforms tomorrow.

“Orbs of Light” blends vocal harmonies and ambient synths with fuzzed-out riffs reminiscent of psych wizards KGLW. The song’s lyrics also expand on the imaginative sci-fi universe and lore of Golden Sunbird.
Golden Sunbird’s sound mixes synthesizers and ethereal vocals, bringing a futuristic yet human sound—perhaps more human than human. As artists, they create an alternate sci-fi reality for listeners to escape to. They use a multi-modal approach to achieve this with alter-egos, costumes, visuals, and creative narratives.
Here’s how the band describes their alternate reality …
“In a distant multiverse of cosmic portals, wormholes, and interdimensional time travel, the Golden Sunbird Starship crew continues their battle against the Dark Lord Mediocretes, who has seized control of Planet Theta. His dark aura of monotony and dullness has begun to spread throughout the cosmos. Our heroes continue their quest to restore balance and harmony to the universe.”
“We are beings from another universe/these frequencies are not from planet Earth,” the robotic and alien vocals sing in “Orbs of Light.” In a truly interstellar jam, the synth-soaked walls of sound beckon us into Golden Sunbird’s distant worlds, punctuated by hypnotic guitar solos and wailing theremins.
