Marking a decade of swirling sonic exploration, Brazilian psych rock luminaries BIKE return with “Sucuri,” the first single from their upcoming sixth album, Noise Meditations, set for release this September.
The single will be released on July 23rd, and The Third Eye got a first listen. As one of the defining forces in Brazil’s new psychedelic wave, BIKE’s latest offering feels like both a celebration and a deepening of their spiritual, mind-bending journey.
“Sucuri” is an excellent track that bridges the terrestrial and the mystical. Inspired by the Kaxinawá indigenous myth of Yube and the Sucuri (anaconda), the song tells the story of a man who transforms into a serpent to pursue forbidden love, a metaphor for trance states, transformation, and the merging of human and animal nature.
Guitarist and vocalist Júlio Cavalcante describes it as a call to reconnect with our primal selves, to listen and learn from our instincts.

Musically, “Sucuri” pulses with hypnotic percussion reminiscent of Brazilian masters Dom Um Romão and Robertinho Silva, anchoring the track with a danceable, almost ritualistic groove. Over this foundation, the guitars coil and uncoil like luminous snakes, weaving noisy, improvisational melodies that shimmer above droning undercurrents.
“Sucuri” is just one of ten tracks slated for Noise Meditations, which is already available for vinyl pre-order. Fans who reserve the LP will receive it before it becomes available on streaming platforms, a move that underscores BIKE’s commitment to nurturing a global community of dedicated listeners spanning Brazil, Europe, and the U.S.
Since forming in São José dos Campos in 2015, BIKE — Júlio Cavalcante (vocals/guitar), Diego Xavier (vocals/guitar), Daniel Fumega (drums), and new bassist Gil Mosolino — have carved out an impressive trajectory.
Their debut album, 1943, caught the ear of producer Danger Mouse, leading to a feature on his 30th Century Records Compilation, Vol. 1, and international gigs at festivals like Primavera Sound, The Great Escape, and SXSW.
With previous albums such as Em Busca da Viagem Eterna, Their Shamanic Majesties Third Request, and Arte Bruta, the band has continually pushed the boundaries of Brazilian psych rock.
With “Sucuri,” BIKE invites us deeper into their transformative universe where music becomes ritual, myth becomes sound, and every listen feels like an initiation. You’re not going to want to miss this one.
