On a dusky September night in 2017, beneath the Chain Bridge and beside the slow-churning Danube, a one-off cosmic jam took flight as part of Budapest’s mythic Monday Session series.

Led by Szabolcs Bognár—fresh off a Brazilian residency and channeling spirits through keys, shekere, and kpanlogo—the ensemble conjured a 90-minute improvisation at Pontoon Budapest.

The group: a wild mosaic of talent including Viktor Sági (guitar), Levente Boros and Zsolt Krecsmáry (drums), András Koroknay (bass, Moog), percussionists Dávid Szarvas and Yuma Na’Ma, and Gábor Weisz weaving spells on sax and flute.

Now unearthed by Oshu Records, this 40-minute LP—pressed in a run of 300—feels like stumbling on a lost ritual. The sound floats between African-Brazilian, spiritual jazz, and folk melodies from some forgotten Hungarian future.

It’s a premonition of future bands (Àbáse, The Mabon Dawud Republic) and cosmic gatherings (Felabration Budapest, United In Sound). A raw, unrepeatable transmission from a parallel Budapest.
