Paradigms II is the second compilation from the mothership known as PFR Records, a Brooklyn-based artist-run label where shoegaze, psych, and house aren’t just genres but a living, mutating creature. On this compilation, that creature sprouts new limbs: gnarly grunge riffs, post-punk shadows, and a psych-rock pulse that feels like it’s been dragged through midnight alleyways and outer space wormholes.
If you’re into the spectral sighs of Cocteau Twins, the feedback gymnastics of Sonic Youth, or the syrupy walls built by My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, you’ll feel right at home, and then a little bit lost in the best way possible.
The lineup on the new compilation sprawls across the map: New York, Tokyo, Stockholm, Honolulu, Portland, Boston, and a few beautiful, haunted in-betweens. It’s a world tour through fog machines and blown-out amps.
The Third Eye is already deep in love with two names here: Duel Ferns (NYC’s basement-dwelling, psych-twisted shoegaze shamans) and Kungens Män, Sweden’s masters of stretched-out, motorik-fueled psychedelic jams.
The rest of the band names on the compilation are brand new frequencies and delightful surprises. Tokyo’s Yuètù opens the LP with “lit et toi,” a dream-pop hallucination soaked in delay and dissolving memory.
Then there’s NYC’s Skye Matlock, who drops “Time of Year” with a slinky bassline, cigarette-smoke vocals, and velvet menace. Honolulu’s GC Candy kicks up ’90s shoegaze dust and shapes it into something angular, urgent, and oddly refreshing.
Each track on Paradigms II speaks the dialect of distortion: overdriven bliss, heartbreak reverb, and fuzzed-out catharsis. Despite oceans and time zones, all these bands share a raw, magnetic energy that PFR Records chased across venues, Bandcamps, and grainy VHS footage to capture on wax.

First pressing: 300 slabs of lovingly pressed vinyl, each dressed in analog risograph artwork by Julia Schimautz (Berlin) and mastered by Nick Townsend (California). Over 40 musicians and contributors helped manifest this hulking beast into reality.
Release date: June 20. NYC release party: July 12. If you’re in NYC, head to the party to see Duel Ferns, GC Candy, Skye Matlock, and a room full of beautifully loud strangers and maybe your new best friends.
