MoonShroom’s debut LP, Take a Trip, doesn’t follow the usual Americana motions. It builds something sharper, stranger, and more alive.

Formed in Kansas City by Jake Keegan and Lily B Moonflower, the band blends dobro, electric guitar, mandolin, and upright bass into a lunar fiesta of cosmic twang that lands somewhere between indie folk, bluegrass, and psych-folk, with none of the genre’s dead weight.

Recorded live at Element Recording, the ten-track Take a Trip captures the chemistry of a band that’s played plenty of late-night festival sets and backroom jams. It’s not just tight—it’s reactive. Colby Allen Walter and Zach Bozeman round out the group, adding depth to the arrangements without sanding off their rawness.

Lead single “Party on the Moon” flips from a driving country groove to a warped funk rhythm, layered with horns and electric piano. It’s playful but intentional, a track built to shift your mood, not just soundtrack it. Keegan and Moonflower say music offers a way out of daily repetition, and this track makes good on that promise.

Take a Trip isn’t escapism for its own sake. It’s about building a world where connection and spontaneity matter. On June 27, the album arrives with a national tour and a clear message: leave your expectations behind and gear up for a one hell of a lunar party.
