SOS marks the return of Brisbane, Australia’s Nice Biscuit. This band has masterfully captured the tumultuous journey of seeking serenity in a world of chaos – and made some terrific music while doing so, I may add.

Their sophomore album delves into the emotional spectrum many of us navigate daily—oscillating between hope and despair, love and indifference. With each track, Nice Biscuit offers an exploration of these emotional swings, blending poignant lyricism with dynamic instrumentation.

The band’s evolution is evident in SOS. Their songwriting has sharpened into a more cohesive and focused form, marked by infectious grooves and rhythmic repetition, all adorned with memorable vocal hooks.

The album’s diverse moods are captured in its shifting tones—sometimes melancholic, sometimes electrifyingly hopeful, but always deeply engaging. Set to drop on October 4th, 2024, SOS will be available through The Reverberation Appreciation Society and Greenway Records in North America and Fuzz Club and Bad Vibrations in Europe.

Since their debut in 2018, Nice Biscuit has carved out a unique niche in the psych-rock realm. Blending krautrock, garage, and modern psych influences, they’ve transcended traditional psych-rock with their distinctive vocal harmonies.

Co-frontwomen Billie Star and Grace Cuell (Baby Cool) weave a tapestry of harmonious vocals that set Nice Biscuit apart. They enhance their performances with visually striking outfits that draw listeners into their imaginative world.

They’ve graced the stages of renowned festivals such as VIVID Sydney Festival, The Long Sunset, Jungle Love, and Splendour in The Grass. Internationally, they’ve made waves across the U.K. and Europe, including standout appearances at The Great Escape, where they were named one of NME’s ’10 New Bands to Watch,’ and festivals like Wide Awake and Supersonic.

The refined soundscapes and emotional depth of SOS reflect Nice Biscuit’s growth as artists. They’re one of many outstanding Australian psych-rock bands, and if you dig the singles from the new album, check out their previous work, such as their 2021 EP Passing Over. Enjoy!
