Gondwana Records released today Morning Sun / Arrival, a limited edition 12” release that offers a peek into the transcendent world of Los Angeles’ deep-jazz virtuosos, Phi-Psonics.

Led by bassist Seth Ford-Young, Phi-Psonics is a jazz ensemble that crafts meditative soundscapes that resonate with the soul. Joined by Sylvain Carton on woodwinds, Mitchell Yoshida on electric piano, and Josh Collazo on drums, the group weaves together threads of jazz, classical influences, and Ford-Young’s unique life experiences, rooted in an early immersion in spirituality, yoga, and philosophy.

Morning Sun / Arrival offers two enchanting tracks born from the same sessions that shaped Phi-Psonics’ second album, Octava. The release is an introspective journey that invites listeners into a realm where jazz becomes a vehicle for spiritual uplift.

The sounds on “Morning Sun” spiral upward like incense smoke, carrying a feeling of reverence. And speaking of incense, you’ll want to light it up for this spiritual jazz song.

Morning Sun / Arrival is a quiet yet potent force, offering a space for deep contemplation and a sanctuary for those seeking a moment of melodic exploration. For the deep listener, the two tracks are an invitation to wander through lush landscapes where the spirit can roam free. If you dig it, check out Phi-Psonics fantastic 2023 record, Octava.
