Miss Lonely is a Nashville-based band of three ladies playing spooky indie garage folk rock that recently released a new single, “Frankenstein Valentine.” Miss Lonely plays simple riffs with an eerie vibe, and she’s joined on stage by Miss Amy, a fiddle player who blends classical, old-time fiddle and blues. Miss Emily rounds out the eclectic trio on drums, which add some roll to the rock.

The group has released three singles thus far, and “Frankenstein Valentine” is their newest music, which dropped on February 12th just in time for a horror-movie marathon on Valentine’s Day. It’s a brief, fun song that reminds me of the weird folk of bands like The Handsome Family and others with the Southern Gothic aesthetic.

“Frankenstein Valentine/Will we sink or swim tonight?” Miss Lonely sings, punctuated by Miss Amy’s fiddle playing and Miss Emily’s beat on the drums. The music isn’t precisely haunting, but it has the charm of a horror B-movie or maybe a clever Twilight Zone episode that you still may not want to watch alone.

Miss Lonely released two singles in 2023, “Spooky Action” and “Wolfie,” that are also worth checking out. This is the type of music for people who celebrate Halloween year-round and opt for black lipstick over brighter shades. Check out Miss Lonely on Bandcamp, Spotify, or wherever your stream music. Enjoy!

Catwolf is a band that likes to have fun with a capital F, and they shared their brand of rock ‘n roll on a short tour recently in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. They were joined by the excellent Nashville-based rockers Miss Lonely (which The Third Eye wrote about here). […]
