Beach House Announces New EP for Record Store Day

The dream pop heroes Beach House have announced a new EP, Become, which will be available first exclusively on Record Store Day this April 22. The five-song project is from their 2022 double LP Once Twice Melody sessions that didn’t make the cut. The band explained in a press release that they didn’t think the songs fit in the OTM world, but all fit “in a little world of their own.”

Beach House added that the songs on Become are “all kind of scuzzy and spacious, and live in the spirit realm. It’s not really where we are currently going, but it’s definitely somewhere we have been. We hope you enjoy these tunes.”

Become, which was self-produced by Beach House, will release digitally six days after Record Store Day and get a worldwide physical release in May, all via Sub Pop/Bella Union. The vinyl will be crystal clear, and the track list is as follows:

  1. American Daughter
  2. Devil’s Pool
  3. Holiday House
  4. Black Magic
  5. Become

I’m not sure if I’ll get the record, but I’m definitely excited about the new music from Beach House. I don’t listen to much dream pop/shoegaze, but Beach House is one who I think plays the genre flawlessly. Once Twice Melody, the double album released last year, shows Victoria and Alex are still at the top of their game and has been called by some reviewers their “grandest vision yet.” It should be cool to see what else they created during those sessions.
